Final Word Count: I forget; 1 journal page
I’m falling back into my old routine and I don’t like it. I didn’t go into work today (I didn’t need to) so I cleaned the apartment and took Yesterday out for a walkies then watched “Murder, She Wrote.” When I decided enough was enough, I took myself down to Staples (the office supply store) and picked up some unnecessary necessities. It made me feel productive the way reading a fitness magazine makes me feel healthy. It’s a dangerously easy cop-out on actually getting things accomplished.
I also put in the order to get my memoir/autobiography printed and bound today! With all the rewards possible, seeing what I’ve accomplished in print will be the most satisfying and hopefully the encouragement I need to get serious about this month.
So now I’m at a coffee shop downtown for my daily update and perhaps to get some writing done. I had hoped to get around 5,000 words done today and tomorrow. While today is still possible, it’s daunting task.
Wish me luck!
Good luck! 🙂
I’m in awe of people that can do 5,000 words over the course of two days. I’m lucky to get 2,000 if I’m working on a large project.
Your daily routine sounds pretty wonderful to me! There is beauty in the norm and it often leads to great stories.
Thank you! I thought I’d need significant chunks of time free in order to work on this and accomplish at one 50,000 piece. Oh how wrong I was! For me this is saving my sanity and the pursuit of a passion I’ve reined in for far too long. It’s bee tough so far with this Western but I remain optimistic. It’s not over until three weeks this coming Thursday. Amazing things have happened in such shorter time frames.
I wouldn’t trade my life for anything. As much as I might get frustrated with a story, I love every minute and realize just how lucky I am to have friends, family and an online community that supports me and a wonderful roommate who tolerates my artistic mood swings. I’m sure it can’t be easy living with me some days!
Your goals are quite challenging but you seem to be meeting them and writing such energetic blogs as well. Love the picture of Yesterday! My writing isn’t quite fully formed yet as I’m still musing as I go. I consider it practising to write as I find my way as a writer. Pretty laid back, I know! I’m retired so laid back works for me. i wish you well and will check back to read about your progress.
Thank you for your note! I’ve discovered over the past few days that having a surplus of time really does work against my ability to sit down and produce a decent amount of prose. It’s very rare that I find it difficult to post a blog entry for the day but it has happened. I can tell you right off the bat that this community has already been more supportive and encouraging than I ever thought. The wonderful thing about writing is that you’re never too old to start, resume or refine. There’s always something more to learn as a writer, which I find comforting.
Good luck with your self-discovery and enjoy the process! Hopefully something I write one day will help you in some way.
Yesterday says good luck!
